    Well made and works well

Used the 12 dB attenuator to reduce signal from CD player to tube gear. Works quite well. 2.0 V RMS fixed output from my Onkyo CD player seemed to be overdriving the input stage to my vintage tube amplifiers and distorting slightly on loud passages. I used the attenuators in the CD player output to reduce the input to the amps and allow more control range of the amplifier volume control.

  • An expensive fix

I've been using a tube preamp designed to be used with low power tube amps and had too much gain, making the use of the volume-only remote control pretty much useless. These have made a huge difference and after some very critical listening I find there is no degradation in sound quality whatsoever and I can now can make very minor adjustments in the volume. I highly recommend.

  • Does what its suppose to do

Does what its suppose to do. It's just 2 resistors after al. Output amplitude is 1/4 of input signal amplitude. I thought it's suppose to be 1/10, but my understanding of dB could be wrong.

  • Simple to use if you need to limit the output into an existing, older amp.

12db has given me good control span on volume of my amp. Just what I needed as I have an old Radio Shack amp that went crazy (blasted sound through high performance speakers) when I connected a Sony cd player. I was surprised that the two were not compatible. The Sony has no way to control the volume output. Oddly enough, the cd player worked for an older Radio Shack tuner that had lower wattage output. If you have this problem, give the attenuators a try.

  • kills your high frequencies response.

These will kill your high end frequencies. I tried these and they are not good unless you want to cut all the high frequencies from your listening experience. I won't be using mine, wasted my money.
