    Suprisingly “mid”

    Im a big fan of Director Winding-Refn. I think too much symbolism was applied in the film and a lot of good material left on the cutting room floor. I have the screenplay and ive read it- the material is quite striking- however, the movie tries to use lighting tone and visual queues to key you in to those moments where there is no dialogue. Sadly, the film needs a few watch throughs in order to get any of that. And i still think a lot would be missed in comparison to the screenplay. Most people can collect the DVD for cheap enough, so imo its worth the watch and the actors do very well with the material despite the lack of substance they seem to be given to work with. Enjoy the film, but dont expect the depth that Drive portrayed. It misses its mark in that regard.

    It's a movie not all will like, but for those who do, wholeheartedly d

    As many know this movie was extremely dividing amongst viewers and critics, some appreciating its neon colored, nightmare filled atmosphere and others finding it dull, gory and probably pretentious. Personally I found myself in the former of the two (hence why I ended up buying it), it's a bleak (and a quite silent) story in every sense of the word, but I managed to share sympathy for both male leads. Personally, while it didn't bother me, Ryan Gosling's performance will be and has been considered a near copy of what he did in Drive, which is understandable. The comparison may have hurt the film's reception; initially Luke Evans was meant to assume Gosling's role, and if he had stayed on the project the film's reception may have been better. And I ...

    Low key great movie!

    Ryan Gosling in an eccentric but exciting movie. Even though it was dark at times it was still entertaining and thought provoking.
