It's not 4-star production - but I still get 4-star laughs!
When this show was new, it was amazing! Now, decades later, I still laugh out loud at so many of the characters and skits! It's true that Lola Heatherton, Sammy Maudlin, and Bobby Bitman don't quite hold up - but I still think Polynesian Town, Ed Grimley, Edith Prickley all hold up as well today as back then. I only wish I'd been on the set for all the jokes and bits that were not captured as part of the show. Who is funnier than John Candy? :) When this show was new, it was amazing! Now, decades later, I still laugh out loud at so many of the characters and skits! Think Through Your Nostalgia Before You Buy!
I remember watching SCTV as a kid late at night and thinking it was funny. However, what one considers funny at 14 or 15 is NOT the same at 47. In a moment of nostalgia, I felt that I had to own this. I was wrong. Seriously, the skits are stupid and mind-numbing. It was interesting though to see comedy greats like John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Catherine O’Hara when they were just starting out.
