  • Thick book, SHOULD have everything

    It is a very good book to learn C++, as a reference however I'm not so sure. I purchased it because I'm taking a class and this was the book required. It's a very easy read so it's easy to learn from. I only say it isn't a good reference because I was looking for a way to solve a problem in C++ for homework and couldn't even find a place to start--it was a really odd problem though so it very likely wasn't the books fault. Even though, I would definitely recommend this book and will probably keep this book and use it down the road.

  • Great Book

    This is a really helpful book. It is easy to read, easy to understand, easy to follow. I had to buy this book for a graduate class. Even without a lot of computer background, I can read the book, understand it, and able to learn how to write a program on my own. The author explain everything in plain english without getting too much wordy.

  • Newer than my instructor's edition!

    This book actually says Copyright 2009! It is newer and has more pages than the Edition my school and instructor uses. The disk is great. Very good quality.

  • This is definitely cheap buy if you don't want to buy the 8th edition.

    This book was well written. It is easy to understand. I bought this book for my computer science 111 class. There is a new 8th edition that just came out, but my professor told me that it is just fine to get this older 7th edition. The 7th edition is almost the same as the 8th edition but the 8th edition is just slightly changed a bit. I would recommend this book to any programming majors or just anyone who is interested in programming.

  • A readable and well-organized introduction to C++.

    I bought this book for a class and find it to be well-organized, clear and easy to read. The appendices are full of information that is actually useful -- I've been referring to them since the second week of class. It comes with a DVD containing a version of C++ but I did not need to use the DVD so I don't have an opinion about it. The only problem with this book is that it weighs 3 1/2 pounds.
