Hello - Usually that is the way it works but honestly not all the time - the belts are size from where the buckle is attached to the center hole - that is the size on a belt - We will suggest to measure an existing belt from where the buckle is attached all the way to the hole that you buckle it - that will be the size to order on a belt - if it comes to be an uneven number please order the next even number any questions please contact us directly - you can also send that belt back for refund

. When I received this belt, it looked orange instead of tan. I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and offered me a prepaid shipping label so I could return it for a refund. I was sent the prepaid label immediately and chose to get a brown belt to replace the tan one. As soon as the seller received the tan belt, the brown belt was shipped and I received a tracking number. I received the brown belt in a timely fashion and it was exactly as described. Excellent customer service!
