    A pleasant travelogue with romance

It's hard to believe that this pleasant-enough, old-fashioned tale of three working women looking for love in Rome was nominated for Best Picture of 1954! But it was the first CinemaScope film to be shot on location on Italy and was also hugely popular. The Fox Studio Classics restoration showcases the scenery quite nicely and the characters are generally appealing. "Roman Holiday" it ain't, but it should please fans of this kind of romantic drama from the period.

  • if you have to fall in love DO IT IN ROME~

2 American woman working for an american based company look for love in one of the most beautiful cities in the world Rome. Maggie McNamara is lovely and funny as the clever schemer out to attract an handsome italian prince (Louis Jordan) using both her innocent beauty and her scheming mind. He likes Modern ART and he spots her admiring modern art at the museum. He plays the piccolo ..he picks her up for a date and she is playing the piccolo. Suddenly the prince is hooked and McNamara is ready to "reel" him in. Dorothy McGuire as the long suffering in silence but madly in love with her very middle aged author boss. (Clifton Webb) When his secretary is ready to leave to go back to the US Webb finally decides he cannot live with out (McGuire) his secretary. This is a chick flick ...

  • Three Coins Too Many In This Fountain.

The DVD itself is fine..............but the movie is amazingly hokey.................at least today. Probably it was also upon release...........very predictable. Ms. McNamara played the roll as if she were bored with her characters as well as with the other characters. Rosanno Brazzi was far more talented than the role he was given............such a Great Actor and Romantic lead..............but not given that opportunity here. Louis Jordan, another wonderful lead actor was also given a lame roll. And Ms. Peters and Ms. McGuire looked too much alike and were hard to remember in whatever each roll was doing. Don't waste your 'Three Coins In This Fountain. Great Song - Frail Movie............John See, Dayton, Ohio

  • Excellent Film Even Today

Having been to Rome recently for the first time, we found this film very up to date despite being over fifty years old. If you haven't been to Rome you will want to make the trip. One bit of trivia. This was the first film for Italian and James Bond actress Luciana Paluzzi. Though uncredited, she plays the sister of one of the male leads preparing for her wedding. She was only 14 at the time! She's made some great films since and is still gorgeous today.

  • Great Movie

Great movie in all aspects of movies. Great cast and fantastic ending.
