The title Where the red fern grows fits.

Very good movie, the actors were very close to each other and entertaining. The end scene was kind sad to see both and side by side with the red fern growing where the dogs lay.

  • Where the Red Fern Grows (2004)

This movie is a great adaptation of the book staying fairly true to the original story. It shows the hard work Billy endured to raise the money for buying his dogs, something his parents can't afford to pay for during the depression. The scenery and props are spot on for the era and the characters are well cast, even if Billy's hair went from tow-headed in the book to dark brown in the movie. Good sportsmanship is evident and makes a great conversation to have with your kids. Read the book with your kids then watch the movie, but be prepared to cry with both. Skip the original movie which changed a MAJOR scene in the book. The changed storyline in ...

  • Love the movie

I got this for my grand girls. I am a coon hunter myself. I know how much fun it is to train dogs and watch them grow.

  • Warms my heart!

Tremendous retelling of the classic story, and much better than the original motion picture.

  • Perfect family movie!

Great movie! My daughter watched it everyday the first week. This movie is so touching, it builds value for a child, shows how determination can accomplish anything. A great heart isn't always found in just anyone. This movie makes the relationship between a young man and his well earned puppy companions shine brightly. And through the hard times, you'll see how this boy changes his families life and those around him.
