    Great Tone - Great Fit

Bought this nut to replace the plastic nut on a customers import LP style guitar. The fit was perfect, and the XL size really lets you position the nut for proper string alignment (you can easily sand the ends for a custom fit). Before ordering, make sure you measure your old nut carefully comparing all dimensions and string spacing to make sure it will work on your guitar. This nut made a big improvement in the guitars tonal qualities and sustain, plus the permanent lubrication (Teflon) insures the strings will not bind or stick in the slot. In my opinion, this nut is an excellent upgrade for a guitar.

Great product, but didn't work for me.

It's a great product to be sure! It was fairly easy to sand to custom fit it in my guitar. It unfortunately didn't work for me. The slots are too wide and the open strings give a "sitar" effect when plucked. I had to put a drop of super glue in each of the slots to remedy this, which worked, but now it's hard to keep the guitar in tune, which is why I bought this nut in the first place.

  • Easy to Use, but Not Actually Low-Friction

I found this Tusq guitar easy to shape and re-slot to fit my guitar. However, although it was advertised as self-lubricating and low-friction, I found that it did not reduced the "sticking" of the strings to any great extent. Applies not just to this nut, but to several other Tusq nuts that I have used over time. I replaced an original Epiphone plastic nut that had a broken string slot. Except for that broken slot in the old nut, I can not detect much, if any, difference is the degree of string-sticking between the two. I still have to tune up from below to 5 or 10 cents flat, and then pull the string at the head and the body to equalize string tension. If I don't do that equalization step, I end up with sharp tuning after playing for a few minutes. This is a plain acoustic Epiphone ...

  • Price

The result is worth the price once purchased, but the cost doesn't attract or encourage a purchase. I combined the nut with a set of Nader strings and the two give an unbelieveable sound, sustain, and ease of playing. I know the sound and sustain come from the nut.I had to tweak the ends for my guitar but the fit was very good The preset groves were just the right fit,,no sharp edges, nice and smooth. Im happy with the nut. Thank you// Dave
