Heatsink Raspberry Pi 3 Case
This case acts as a heatsink to keep your Pi cool when running at 100% 24/7. I use it to crunch BOINC data with SETI@Home and when under 100% usage it stays at about 60°C. The case is warm to the touch which means it's working exactly how it should. No throttling taking place with this case! It comes with four stick on rubber feet which keep it stationary on the desk or wherever you decide to keep it. You will need some thermal pads to use between the chips and the heatsink contact points. I purchased a 1mm thick pad from eBay and it has worked great for the three contact points. This case is very sturdy and gives you access to all the ports. There is however no hole to show the activity LEDs for a Raspberry Pi 3 but that isn't a big deal for me. Good for high CPU applications
This is my 2nd BIQU case. I use them with rpi3 running software-driven radio receivers pulling very small signals out, which really stresses the CPU. I previously ran cheap plastic, then light aluminum with fan (eleduino), cases. The temp would be in the low 70's and 60'sC respectively. Running in the BIQU case, it doesn't get over 45C - all in a temp controlled room at 21C. I did smooth the pads which contact the CPU GPU and RAM which were a little rough, and used thermal paste from Arctic Fox. The cases get warm to the touch, which shows they are working, I guess. I don't notice a difference in wireless or BT performance. They weigh, with Pi, about 146g, vs 125g for the case with fan. I'm happy with the BIQU case; I have just bought another. The screws and feet are good. If they provided either themal pads or thermal paste, it would be useful, though any computer store should have some inexpensively. You can access the SD card without pulling it apart, which you cannot with the eleduino case. Each of the two I bought arrived within the expected window, and details on package tracking was accurate. So, pro: RPI 3 runs a lot cooler. No fan required. con: smoothing the contact patches and adding thermal paste is required for max performance (not significant effort required to do this). Overall, I have just purchased a second one; by far the best of the 3 cases I have tried. I recommend this case for those who run high-CPU applications like an OGN receiver running v0.2.6. firmware.

This case is a good design and can work wonderfully. The Pi 3 fits in the case perfectly and goes together seamlessly. My only complaint (and loss of 1 star) has to do with tolerances and finish. The case contact points to the various chips has casting marks/pocks which greatly limits the surface contact with the ICs. This limits effective heat transfer to the case. Also, the tolerances seem to be quite loose; slathering heat sink compound on the chips barely transfers any compound to the contact points. To remedy these deficiencies, I shimmed between the case and the chips with a thin piece of copper diaphragm material, using heat sink compound on both sides. I suspect a couple thicknesses of aluminum foil would likewise work. This makes the case an extremely effective heat sink. The ... This case is a good design and can work wonderfully. This is a really good case. I love the fact that the case leads head away from all the 3 chips that produce heat. The paintwork/finish is much better than expected. It looks great. The only thing I'm missing is an opening (or better yet light pipes) for the status LEDs. Great case! Highly recommended!
