About this product

Product Information

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership. Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer-and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope-and finds love-is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake. But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back? Praise for The Undomestic Goddess "Light and breezy . . . Samantha is eminently likable, and overworked readers will empathize with her glee at her first full weekend off in years." -- Christian Science Monitor "Sophie Kinsella is at the top of the chick lit game. Her plots are fast-paced and entertaining, with the perfect amount of realistic neurosis to accompany her quirky heroines." -- New York Post "Perfectly amusing . . . The Undomestic Goddess is a genuinely funny, sweet book. Kinsella is a comic whiz who consistently delivers what her readers crave." -- Miami Herald "A lovely romantic comedy." -- Washington Post

  • A great new character from Kinsella!!

Sophie Kinsella is the Queen of Chic Lit!!! After the Shopaholic series I was curious to see what she would come up next - and with The Undomestic Goddess...she did not dissapointed!! This is funny, entertaining read in similar style to the Shopaholic novels. This time the title character is Samantha Sweeting....a young twenty something climbing her way up the corporate law ladder - on her way to becoming a partner! Her life revolves around the job, to the detriment of her life, her relationships and her home!! She is tired, never sees here friends and does not even get to celebrate her birthday -which is okay by her family as they are too busy in the corporate world too!! BUT!! This all comes crashing down due to a 'mistake' which she is too tired at first, to realize was not exactly her ...

  • Kinsella Fairy Tale - 21st century style

Stressed by a fast-paced, high profile career?! Kinsella's main character, Samantha Sweeting is a 29 year old lawyer who needs a break from her life but doesn't know it. After making a career-shattering mistake, she ends up working as a housekeeper for a couple residing in the English countryside. Lots of silly things happen, but the ending is typical Kinsella happy. If you are looking for a light-hearted, fun read this will fit the bill nicely.

  • love this book

I love this book. I used to have it in paperback but somehow lost it. I was so excited to find it on here. I did NOT like the new cover so i was so happy to find the same one i used to have.

  • Not unlike her other books...

I was hoping to find something different than her normal Shopaholic books (which I love just wanted something new) but this book while changing characters ran along the same lines. The main character just keeps digging and digging herself into a deeper hole with her lies. I just want to scream, "tell the truth already"! Still, just as I am compelled to see how it works out in the end, I was compelled to finish this book. Cute but not earth shattering for the author.

  • Great book that I will read again and again

This book was recommended to me by a friend. I don't have a lot of time to read so I wanted a book that I could come back to a month later and still remember what was happening. I started reading this book and didn't have to worry about where I left off, because I read it cover to cover in two days. It was an easy read. This book's main character was funny and quirky. It was the perfect combination of comedy and romance. The ending left me wanting more. I enjoyed this book so much that I have purchased and read every other book that has been written by this author!
