    Great stuff

Brian Wilson, a poor tormented soul was blessed with a wonderful God given talent. He used it wisely, His "pysciatrist" or what ever he was all but destoryed Brian. His dad surely didn't help. Brian still managed to create amazing music along with his brothers and Mike Love. An American Iconic figure.

  • Top critical review

I don’t see the big fuss...

...in 52 years that God put breathe into me, I’ve never listened to this album. Now I grew up in the 70’s listening to the Beatles, Zeppelin and the Beach Boys and even saw the Beach Boys live in Southern California in the early 80’s. I know this is supposed to be avant garde and ahead of it’s time but this has nothing on Sgnt Pepper by the Beatles. This album was like a bucket list item... give at a full listen and see what all the buzz was about. It just droned on and on for me. In fact dull and boring. Aside from ‘Sloop John B’ there’s no other reason to listen to it again. I’ll stick with the Beatles and Pink Floyd.

  • Fantastic and unique !

Brian Wilson is a genius singer/songwriter w/ unmatched music composing skills, it rivals the Beatles Revolver album that was wriiten at the same time period('66). All of the songs flow together into one complete masterpiece. I wished I could've seen this album performed live in concert with the songs played in order as recorded. It would have been very unique to say the least. As a graduate of high school in 1976 I listened to these guys almost continously and loved the car songs. I would go to the local Drag strip and blast their music to and from the events. The Beach Boys had many #1 hits for a very long time in their careers but were masked by the Beatles invasion. It did not detour them from touring and writing their music though they plowed through and kept on going. ...

  • Something old and something new from the Beach Boys

Have been a Beach Boys fan since the beginning, fifty years ago! But never had this, the "Pet Sounds" album, because I had moved on in my musical tastes when it was released, years after their mainstream albums. I recently read an outstanding prof. review of "Pet Sounds" that said it was a "must" for any Beach Boys collection, so when I found it available both with its re-mastered monoaural (can you believe it?!) and re-mastered stereo versions on one cd, I couldn't resist. Some of the tracks were familiar, such as "Sloop John B", "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and the title track "Pet Sounds." The other eleven tracks were less familiar or unknown to me, but were still classic Beach Boys in their "grown up" style: ...

  • One of the Greatest Ever Made

To many the Beach Boys are a joke of a band but this is a horrible misconseption since the Beach Boys revolutionized what an album could be with this one and later what a song could be with Good Vibrations. This album predates some of the greatest pieces ever made such as The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Revolver, The Rolling Stones' Exile on Main Street and Pink Floy's Dark Side of the Moon. This album elevated rock and pop music to the level of art and it pushed all their contemporaries to see music as an art form. This album is almost perfect there really are no weak tracks. The album works best when listened to as a whole though. The way the song change from comlete joy to pain and sorrow is remarkable. Just one thing, it might take a couple ...
