Bulls Eye Flapper by Fluidmaster No. 500
Used this on an old American Standard toilet and it worked like charm on first flush. It has both rigid plastic and rubber in its construction which makes for being more sturdy, accurate reliable seal, and water cost saving. My made in the USA Bulls Eye Flapper No. 500 works well and snaps over existing mounting ears or adaptable to flush valves with 1" overflow tubes. This was way better than those all rubber/all soft material type flappers which have problems sealing consistently and whose flimsy lightweight floppiness leads to having to hold handle down longer while flushing and then is also slower, inaccurate to reseatUsed this on an old American Standard toilet and it worked like charm on first flush. This product is OK but not as good as Fluidmaster's 3 inch solid frame flapper. This flapper does not have as solid of a frame as their 3 inch flappers which have a withe solid plastic reinforcement that makes the flapper really "solid frame".

For the older toilets - I couldn't get the new adjustable ones to work
My toilet was made in 1912, it's an antique but works just great and looks even better. Probably 25 years ago I replaced the flush mechanism with a Fluidmaster kit. The seal between the seat and the flapper started deteriorating awhile back letting a tiny amount of water seep by. Went to the box store and they don't carry these for older toilets. I purchased an adjustable replacement one and it worked mostly. But occasionally it would let water seep by and you had to hold down the lever for a complete flush. This is the fix or so it seems at this point. A complete flush and no seeping. Finally. My wife has a little "shrine" on top of the toilet which makes it a real pain to removed the tank lid. Rigid frame flapper valve with ring with attached to overflow tube
This is a rigid-frame flapper valve with the attached ring that goes around the Overflow tube forca pre-1994 toilet. This was exactly what I needed for my toilet. The newer rigid-frame ones sold at the box stores don't have this attached ring, so those cannot attach to the Overflow tube. There are also flexible frame flappers at the box stores that do have the attached ring, but the flexible flappers don't always work as well as rigid frame flappers.This is a rigid-frame flapper valve with the attached ring that goes around the Overflow tube forca pre-1994 toilet. This was exactly what I needed for my toilet. The newer rigid-frame ones sold at the box stores don't have this attached ring, so those cannot attach to the Overflow tube. There are also flexible frame flappers at the box stores that do have the attached ring, but the flexible flappers don't always work as well as rigid frame flappers.

Better fit if you have leaking seal...
The red fluidmaster cost more, and don’t seal as well. The black flapper is more pliable, eventually forms to make better seal.
