    Better than most mini machines but STILL a cheap toy

    I bought one of these used allegedly excellent condition but out of the box it wouldn't sew. It could never have in the state it was in, the timing was off so it couldn't pick up the bobbin thread. Some research on the internet reveals the plastic gears linking the top mechanism to the bottom (rotating shuttle hook assembly) can skip a tooth or two rendering the machine useless. Janome seems to make a big deal about this item being "not a toy" but after buying and using one and having a good knowledge of how sewing machines work, i disagree. They essentially downsize a traditional barebones machine about 50% then go wrong by making many parts that would have been steel out of soft flexible plastic. Perhaps the machine I bought had been abused, it didn't look it but I doubt that matters. ...

    Jarome Mini Sewing Machine

    I bought this machine pre-own on eBay for my 8 years old girl to learn sewing. This is a very basic but better than the toy machine. I like the "cute" appearance and the way it sews very smooth just like the big machine. The only thing I don't like about this machine is that it does not have a sewing light. That makes it really hard to see how straight your stitches as times. My daughter complains she can't see clear even when she sits under a bright ceiling light. I think because the lighting is not aiming at the right spot. So, I suggest not to get this machine if you prefer a machine that has a sewing light. I gave a thumb down for "no light" feature on this machine, thumb up for other features.

    Problems with the bobbin holder

    I just left my granddaughter's after spending at least 8 hours trying to get her brand new New Home Janome machine working. This was her Dec. 17th birthday gift and she was so excited about it, Being a Home Economics teacher, I have be a troubleshooter on many sewing machines,many brands and makes and I happen to own a new home myself. Thinking that there was probably some thread tangled in the bobbin case. I took it apart and could find nothing amiss, When I tried to reassemble it there was no way to get it back together. So now we are faced with a disappointed 10 year old and a very exasperated grandmother! Can you help?

    Cheap, solid machine.

    This is a cheap sewing machine. And, while it works very well for a cheap sewing machine, it can never quite overcome that impediment. If you're interested in purchasing one, my only advice to you is to understand its niche: it can work fairly well for single projects, but it simply lacks the versatility and durability of a higher end machine. That said, I'm currently sewing my second ballroom dress with this Janome, and, apart from some small bobbin issues, I have no complaints.

    Janome the" Great little sewing machine"

    I bought the Janome Sew Mini machine for my grandaughter, who liked to sew but was a little afraid of a regular machine. This one is just the right size for her. She started sewing the day she received it and has been sewing some table cloths for her sisters wedding which makes her very pleased that she can do that on her own sewing machine. It is a perfect gift for the beginner, or for yourself when you have a small sewing job and you don't want to get out your big machine. Great little machine. Sews great, just a tiny bit noisy but not a problem.
