    Great controller, with some trial and error flashable to IT mode

    Easily expands your computer to accept 8 SATA disks more. Flashing to standard LSI9811 firmware makes it possible to flash it to IT mode, as required by FreeNAS and others, with the added advantage this software is still maintained, where Dell seems to stopped development. As this reflashing is dependent on the motherboard you are using, some trial and error is unavoidable, google carefully. It is now happily humming away in my FreeNAS server.

    Good RAID/HBA

    This card works well as an HBA for SATA SSDs. Seems to be compatible with LSI's firmware, so I was able to do IT mode passthrough and see my drives as JBOD. One thing to note is that this is the H200A, not the H200I, as such it didn't work in the "storage slot" of my PowerEdge R610, it expects you to install it in one of the rear slots. Really good value for an 8-port HBA.

    Dell SAS/SATA H200 6Gbs RAID Controller

    This “re-flashable” Dell H200 /LSI 9211-8i controller works with SAS or SATA drives in many Dell Servers. Can be half height. Can be re-flashed into “IT” mode for use with FreeNAS or unRAID. Supports 8 drives (4A/4B) that are larger than 2TB with correct cabling. No cache memory.

    Needed to flash the firmware to IT mode but it was a breeze and now it just works great with FreeNas and SATA hard drives using a breakout cable.
