About this product

Product Information

This comedic noir stars Michael Caine as private investigator Tucker, who is hired by a wealthy businessman (Michael Constantine) to find his lost daughter. The trail leads Tucker to the eccentric Prendergast family, where he becomes convinced that one of the two women (Natalie Wood and Kitty Winn) are actually his employer's lost offspring.     Caine and Wood Always Enjoyable, Convoluted Plot Not So Much

    While neither Caine nor Wood's best movie by far, it's a pleasure to watch these two actors together. Both do a great job in this overly complicated attempted spoof of the film nor Sam Spade type detective story. I'm still not sure I've understood the plot. For a funnier spoof, Murder by Death is far superior. But neither Caine nor Wood are in that one. Still glad I bought it, just to watch two of my favorite actors together.

    not bad at all, very good film

    Sure, it does not follow the book, but it is still well done, we have a very similar story to that of the novel with some slight changes, Caine is very good, as is the late Thayer David, he is a kind of Sidney Greenstreet character.
