  • Good DVD But...

First of all, Jeff is an outstanding technician! I wouldn't have gotten the DVD if it wasn't for him. All in all, its a great DVD if you like John Bonham and the way he tuned his drums, because this is the only part of the DVD that goes into tuning. The rest of it, to me, is propaganda about Jeff, which he deserves in a way. But I was hoping to see more stuff on tuning, setup, repair, and other tips. I actually found my mind wandering a bit during most of the DVD since it was not technical, just a butt-kissing session it sounded like, not to be mean or anything. Some amazing guest musicians are also featured, one of which is Danny Carey of Tool, playing the Ocheltree drum kit, and snare of course. Again, if you love John Bonham, as I do, the first 30 minutes of the DVD is worth every ...

  • Great video for learning about drums in general. Very specific and factual, not so much.

Great information on drum tutorials and tuning techniques. Nice learning and hearing about different drummer inspiring stories. Fantastic price. The opening start of the video talks about the drum setup of John Bonham. Unfortunately based on research. Not all details and props where accurate. Jeff Ocheltree unfortunately was not Bonhams usual tech. According to Jason Bonham .

  • Not bad, for the price.

I really enjoyed the performances on this DVD, it's always a pleasure to see masters of this art and watch their technique. I also enjoyed seeing the John Bonham kit and how he had it tuned, right down to each tom. If you're a Danny Carey fan, you'll love his performance on a kit that will blow you away! However, I waited for the in depth analysis on tuning techniques on toms and snares by a master drum technician and....well, it just didn't happen. So, don't watch it for this aspect. Jeff is a very knowledgeable fellow and produces some fine instruments, but "Trust your ears" left me with the thought of, well, trust my ears. His ears, on the other hand, I don't really hear through. So, it's worth watching at least once for the price, but if your looking for tuning tips, look elsewhere.

  • AN HONEST AND INFORMATIVE DVD

It's a DVD like this one by Jeff Ocheltree that makes me glad to be a drummer at any level. That's what is so great about this DVD. Yes, he tells you about the methods he uses to make drums sound so good, which is one of the reasons I bought it, but it suprised me a bit when I got to see how truely real and strait forward he is about his tuning skills! Plus the great drumming and interviews make it worth the purchase alone. After 30+ years of drumming it's a DVD like this that inspires me to keep rocking! Thanks-Jonny Sunn

  • Trust Your Ears

Jeff does a great job describing his methods of tuning. Excellent camera angles provide views of real, workable techniques.
