Well, the "BOSE Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker Original Volume Control Pod 10-Pin C5" didn't turn out to be the problem with my setup. This is NOT the fault of the seller however. Item arrived quickly, just as described and looked to be the real OEM item in brand new condition. I'm now thinking that the problem is with the capacitors on the circuit board and that is what I will attempt next. I get a "warbling" sound out of the speakers in case you have similar problems.
