    Finicky connection

This is my second set of these monitors. I love the voice activated feature, and when the power connection on my base unit went, I figured it was better to get the same monitor so that I could have two parent units. Most of the time, these are great. Sometimes they seem to go in and out of range, though, even while sitting still. This is made extra annoying by the beeping that occurs whenever the parent unit is out of range of the base unit. We think that moving around the units (thus blocking the connection with your body) makes it worse, so the little belt clip on the back of the parent unit doesn't do us much good. We just find a place to set it on a table or something that's within earshot, but not too close to lots of movement.

  • Love this baby monitor!

I was given a set of these monitors as a hand-me-down from a friend who was cleaning out all of her baby supplies. The range is good, they are easy to use, and the battery lasts a long time. I love the sound activation setting, so I hear our son if he is actually making noise, but it doesn't pick up all of his tossing and turning in the night. I am a light sleeper, so I love that function! I love my hand-me-down set so much more than the new fancy set I got at my baby shower, that I actually ordered a second set to keep at my parents house on the lake, so we can sit on the beach and still hear the baby while he's napping inside the cottage. If you are after a good, basic, baby monitor, without any bells and whistles, you can't go wrong with these IMO. Highly recommend!

  • Baby (bear) monitor

I have use these baby monitors to alert me of night time bear and raccoon activity on my deck. I place the transmitter unit between the window and the screen, and it is sensitive enough to pick up even the slightest sounds.

  • I probably wouldn't use this to monitor a baby, but I am putting it to good use to monitor my laundry appliances in the basement, while I'm upstairs.

I probably wouldn't use this to monitor a baby, but I am putting it to good use to monitor my laundry appliances in the basement, while I'm upstairs. It's nice that it has a voice only pick up as well. I'm pretty sure the included nicad battery pack is toast, not surprising considering the age of the device, and it isn't necessary as long as it is plugged in.

  • When the Babies Grow Up, Useful for Home Circuit Breaker Testing

Beyond the myriad of technology now available for baby monitoring (circa 2018), this "retro" device, utilizing analog RF technology to transmit and receive audio signals, can have many additional uses. Comes in handy when tracing home circuit breaker locations for electrical outlets, with transmitter at the outlet your testing and receiver at the breaker box. Use in this manner at your own risk. 2018-03-12
