About this product

Product Information

Summon your inner rock star and knock the audience's socks off with 'Rocksmith' for the Sony PlayStation 3. This music game is different than other similar guitar games because it uses the real deal, an actual guitar. Simply plug in your own guitar to the PS3, using the original Rocksmith Real Tone cable, and you're ready to rock. Use the game to learn how to play the guitar or learn new songs if you're an experienced guitar player, choosing from a wide range of music, like heavy metal and alternative rock. The Riff Repeater allows users to select their individual speed and difficulty, making the experience feel customized. Choose from songs that include 'War Ensemble' by Slayer, 'For a Fool' by The Shins, and 'Machinehead' by Bush.

    Lot of fun AND educational

I wanted a guitar based game, so I tried it out not expecting anything special. I couldn't have been more wrong. It's so much fun. I've played guitar for over forty years and though I don't feel like I am learning anything from playing the game, I can see how someone new to playing guitar could surely benefit greatly from it. I would recommend this to someone who is serious about wanting to learn. The initial stages are kind of boring for those who already know how to pick or can find notes on the neck. Newcomers to guitar or bass (this version needed a $10 addon for bass), will welcome the slow pace and have a great feeling of accomplishment when they complete a song. The only gripe is that tacking on this game is greatly improved if the audio is sent directly to a receiver instead of ...

  • Top critical review

    Need more with it.

Was unable to play the game without the gig instrument. However, not upset due to the price of getting both games rocksmith and gig. Rocksmith was able to play once I figured out the correct cable to use my guitar and the game with.

  • I finally have a use for that old electric bass in the attic...

This game/learning tool is amazing. I was never very good at Guitar Hero, I don't have super fast reflexes or quick fingers, and GH always seemed "fun" but with no real skills to be gained. AS soon as I heard about Rocksmith I got excited, because I recently decided to actually learn to play electric guitar, plus I had an old bass in the attic that my daughter decided she didn't want to play, about 10 years ago. I did a little research then ordered the game. I was not disappointed. Sure, I don't hit all the notes yet, but the game makes me play up to tempo and it makes my newbie fingers very tired as I work out the rhythms and notes. Lots of fun, I would play for hours every day if I didn't have to work, and have a family, and all those other distractions... The arcade games are a waste ...

  • Fun way to learn basic concepts of guitar playing

Last year for Christmas, I gave my husband an electric guitar. It didn't receive much attention throughout the year. He is the ultimate gamer, so this year's gift has been ideal for him to actually start playing his guitar. It seems to be helpful to start learning basic concepts. It starts out by having the player adjust strings to tune their guitar & then basic concepts are introduced. We're happy w/ it & it's got his attention.

  • Excellent idea and excellent implementation. Highly recommended

Really. Excellent. Product. First of all I've bought a Fender solo guitar starter kit, to tease my kids ... They did not seem quite interested though. Then one of my colleagues told me about the RockSmith and I've ordered it via eBay (thanks to eBay and Seller for excellent service) and starting the day Rocksmith entered my house things changed - my kids are playing guitar about at least two hours a day... Great idea and a great game combining study with fun in a very balanced way, inspiring youngsters and enriching their world by music. The product itself is flawless, hardware is working ideally, software is organized and implemented in a logical manner, music samples, songs, patterns and effects are just great. Now I've also bough Fender Bass starter kit and I'm going to order yet ...
