About this product

Product Information

Set in the steamy, stormy landscape of South Carolina, this New York Times bestseller from the author of Queen Bee is the unforgettable story of one woman's courageous journey toward truth... Born and raised on idyllic Sullivan's Island, Susan Hayes navigated through her turbulent childhood with humor, spunk, and characteristic Southern sass. But years later, she is a conflicted woman with an unfaithful husband, a sometimes resentful teenage daughter, and a heart that aches with painful, poignant memories. And as Susan faces her uncertain future, she realizes that she must go back to her past. To the beachfront house where her sister welcomes her with open arms. To the only place she can truly call home...

Reviews
"The setting and the characters are blazingly authentic...Frank evokes the eccentric Hamilton family and their feisty Gullah housekeeper with originality and conviction; Susan herself--smart, sarcastic, funny and endearingly flawed--makes a lively and memorable narrator. Thanks to these scrappily compelling portraits, this is a rich read."-- Publishers Weekly (starred review)   " Sullivan's Island is hilarious and wise, an up-to-the-minute report on what it is like to be alive and female in the South Carolina Lowcountry today."--Pat Conroy   "Dottie Frank's take on the South Carolina Lowcountry is tough, tender, achingly real, and very, very funny. Sullivan's Island roars with life."--Anne Rivers Siddons   "In Sullivan's Island , southern womanhood has found a new voice, and it is outrageous, hilarious, relentless and impossible to ignore."--John Berendt   "A satisfying treat."-- Orlando Sentinel   "Frank's wit, her fast pacing and the details of Lowcountry life and place give the novel a solid grounding...The book's greatest pleasure lies in the delightfully realized Susan, who has all the pluck, charm and gutsy good humor anyone might wish for."-- The State "One heck of a beach book...Frank keeps you reading compulsively."-- The Charlotte Observer   "Filled with lowcountry and Gullah legend, this delightful contemporary romance is a very moving story of family, love and place."-- Knoxville News-Sentinel

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • another great summer read!

I bought this book because I have read other books by this author and loved them. It did not disappoint. Her writing is smart and funny. The books all have the same style of humor, but are each as different as can be. The characters are real and I'm sure exist in all of us southerners.

  • Sullivan's Island

Dorothea Benton Frank has the ability to make her characters come alive. Those of us who love Southern fiction enjoy her authentic depiction of our region with all our quirks. She makes you laugh and cry as she writes about things that we have all either experienced or observed. Just do it again, please.

  • Sullivan's Island - book

First off - I read Isle of Palms which was the best book I have ever ever read and Dorothea Benton Frank is a terrific writer. She makes you feel as though you are there in the midst of everything. I bought all her books on e-bay - they are truly wonderful.
