About this product

Product Information

Slogum House "lay on the winter flat of Oxbow like the remains of some great, hulking animal that had foraged the region long ago, leaving its old gray carcass to dry and bleach at the foot of the hogback." Ruled by Gulla Slogum, the house was headquarters for a clan that terrorized what it couldn't seduce or steal. Using her daughter as poisoned bait and her sons as predators, Gulla plotted to put a whole county under her control. She had been insulted too often and worked too hard; now she sought power, land, and revenge.

Reviews
"Burning, searing narrative. Told with dazzling vividness. . . . Whatever interpretation is finally to be put on this epic of the West, an outstanding thought at the end is that the writer has tremendous literary power."-Boston Transcript, "Slogum Houseis a brutal book written for strong stomachs, and its author in her strength casts a shadow tall and deep. . . . Mari Sandoz writes with a sweep and power as strong as a tornado and as devastating."-Books, "The style in which this extraordinary story is conveyed has a tautness, a nervous energy admirable in each successive chapter."-Saturday Review of Literature, "There are dozens of scenes which will stick in the reader's mind like burrs in a saddle blanket."-New York Times

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • A fabulous writer.

As always a great author. Mari Sandoz is by far the number one aurhtor when it comes to our Western expansion. She lived and saw the difficulty of homesteading and the lives that lived it. I highly recommend this book Revron.
