Sssssswwwwweeeeettt! This was made from a very good print of the original film.

This is a classic reproduction of a timeless film from the Hershel Gordon Lewis series. This and one other put him on the map for shock sleaze etc.

  • Two Thousand Maniacs! (2000, DVD)

'Two Thousand Maniacs' is apparently the second gore flim ever made. Technically speaking, it's superior to Lewis's 'Blood Feast' in pretty much every way, but I think I like that film more than this one. Suffice to say, you can be a lot better than 'Blood Feast' and still really not be very good, which this film proves amply. The direction is less flat, the acting is somewhat more natural, or intentionally over the top, rather than by accident, as it appeared to be in 'Blood Feast'. Still, this movie is quite a bit longer than 'Blood Feast', which is liable to hurt you, and the intentional humor and wackiness of this film can't match the unintentional humor and wackiness of that movie. Also, it's quite a bit less gory, though it's still severely out there by the standards of the time. ...

  • 2000 Maniacs

I bought this movie because I am a huge fan of finding things. For years all I could remember is that as a child my father took us to the drive-in movies to see a movie about people being tortured at a state fair setting. It took years to finally figure out the name of the movie and then once I found it, I had to buy it to see if it was it. My husband and I had a great time watching this movie during our last RV trip to the beach...What fun!!! It is not your all time classis and isn't even a "cult" classic, but is was fun to watch. Now to find the movie about a killer tree my husband keeps telling me about....

  • The better of the 3 films by same director.

What i liked bout it was the sure bad acting, the gore the blood and that sweet song "Yeeha the south is gonna ride again!" HA HA HA HA HA HA HA I loved it. And when i say the best of the 3 films, the same director also did BLOOD FEAST & THE WIZARD OF GORE...which i will write my review on it soon. The story is about a town that was killed during the civil war and well now they are back for Yankee blood, as it was the south that lost. And now every year on the ANN of the towns death they rise and whoever is on the road is now invited to the party. Only to be killed, still they get a room for the weekend & free food, but there is a price. watch it and you'll enjoy it as well. Also so you know there has been a re-make that stars MR FREDDY him self, and was it ever so BAD! THERE IS NOTHING ...

  • The Gruesome Twosome

    It’s H.G. Lewis EARLY stuff & @ his best w/most of the goofy-style type acting- & boy- that’s a stretch- “it’s pretty silly” & that’s all “Lewis in prime gear”… awesome.
