    Worked out of the box.

    Needed IDE drive to update a 10 year old Acer computer from Windows XP to Windows 7. Found this drive on eBay that was identical to the original drive that came with the machine. Imaged from old drive to new. Everything worked great. It's getting hard to find IDE drives. Most of newer computers use SATA. Price was right for a quality drive.

    Have you tried an ATA Ultra drive?

    My brother-in-law works in computer technology, so he introduced me to the idea of converting an old business machine into a personal computer for home use. Businesses often use more powerful systems with better long term durability and available upgrades. But they also replace them, and the computers and components are sold on the used computer market. eBay is my own source for buying used computer components. I bought this hard drive to replace a 40 GB IDE drive I had been using for two years. That old IDE drive never had more than 15 GB of data on it, and I used Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to keep the files organized. But it was slow. Startup was slow, opening a browser was slow, navigating the internet was slow. An ATA-100 (Ultra) drive uses an 80-conductor ATA cable. ...

    Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive

    Seagate drives seem to just work. I can't remember having a problem with one. The Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80 GB ATA-100 Hard Drive, although not the "latest & greatest" HDD out there today (Feb 2010), is the perfect storage solution for an old Beige PowerMac G3 I'm restoring. The G3 recognized the drive immediately and Mac OS installs (9 & X) went without a hitch. Based on my passed experiences with Seagate drives I expect many good and trouble-free years of use with this drive.

    Great Ebayer sent out a Great Drive

    i picked this *used* drive up on the cheap here on ebay to replace a small drive in my xbox system. when the drive arrived in the mail, the packaging was great. very secure, wrapped in brown paper, very clean and professional looking. the ebayer really went the extra mile to pack it nicely. the drive itself is physically clean and came with a jumper, something i was worried about. one thing a geek can never have enough of is hard drive jumpers! i installed it in my xbox and it's running great. it's a perfect drive upgrade for a small media ceneter computer or xbox. exactly what you need for storing pictures, video game roms, and a few movies and musical albums. it runs quiet, it shows no sign of internal wear or break down, and i have high uptime with it in my box. what can i ...
