    The Chicago Manual of Style

    Although qualifying among the most authoritative works for those who participate in the writing, editing and publishing trades, some aspects of these fields, such as templates, alternative formatting and pre-press detailing would have made this Style Manual much more comprehensive. These missing or minimally referenced areas notwithstanding, the book excels in those presentations, rules and protocols that are included. Serious writers, publishers...and yes, printers, should have this Manual among their reference works, and should update it when revisions become available. The Chicago Manual of Style is definitely recommended for professionals, but also for students and researchers who are interested in the "rules of the trade."     An Indispensable Guidebook for Writers

    I bought The Chicago Manual of Style because I lent mine out and it hasn’t been returned… This book is the authoritative reference tool for everyone who works with words. It has been continuously revised and updated since 1906 and presents detailed instruction on how written content should be presented for publication. This manual shows you how to design manuscripts to industry standards. It is an indispensable reference tool and has my highest recommendation.

    Writers need to be consistent in handling style issues; this guides you.

    For a writer, this is as essential a tool as a dictionary or thesaurus. It tells you how best to handle style issues in a consistent manner. Sure, there are other such manuals, but I believe this is the best. While they update regularly, the changes are not significant enough that you need the latest edition. An older one like this will do the job very well.

    Glad seller had this listed on ebay when I needed it.

    Glad I purchased this from ebay. It is a large book, with much information. I am certain that the retail cost would be expensive. It was recommended to help with my writing. Glad I found it on ebay.
