I am a fan of Piper but I can’t recommend this book. When writing on the topic of depression the majority of what you have to say should not be about repenting of sin. He admits he’s not a psychologist and quickly touches on the use of medications and therapy but there’s only about a paragraph of that. As he states in the book this was supposed to be a single chapter at the end of a former book. He should have stuck with his first instinct there just put the pen down after the intro and first chapter.I am a fan of Piper but I can’t recommend this book. What an excellent book! In Christendom, the prominent response in counselling is that if you are dealing with depression, it means you are not spiritual enough. This is such a fresh approach to help towards a way forward in depression and not be stuck in a feeling of condemnation or the false feeling of being in a "lost" state. It was such a fresh and helpful approach with excellent use of scripture to find a way forward with this condition.What an excellent book!
