By receiving gifts of sweets from strangers, the children establish, on a symbolic plane that exceeds their understanding, a fraternal exchange between the visible world and the invisible world.     Interesting historical and fantasy lore

    Smaller book...with tidbits of the history of Halloween myths, legends, and observances. Interesting, although not entirely unique. Worth the few hours of exploration, to set the mood for celebrating my favorite holiday. This version seems to have a "pagan" slant to it. More grim tales.

    Packed with Information about Halloween's Beginnings

    I just started reading it. It seems to be packed with a lot of information. I bought it because I have always loved Halloween and I wanted to know more about how it came to be. I wish they had put some pics in however. It would have made it more interesting.
