Having raised my boys past and through this book, I donated prior to a 500 plus mile move. Then, we gained 2 more children. Little children, who had not met Pooh and Christopher Robin! So, I went on my own adventure to find this glorious collection that we had once owned as a family. I visited my local library and my local used book store to no avail. Upon finding it on ebay for half the price of new (with shipping added in) I jumped on purchasing it. I was a little warry of the shape it might arrive in. Imagine how surprised I was, when it came with dust jacket intact and beautiful ribbon marker there, just like brand new. If every ebay purchase were as happy as this one! A must-own classic for children and adults.
I made this purchase to share with a friend on an upcoming vacation after we recently discovered our mutual appreciation for Pooh. This volume includes the original book of Pooh stories, Winnie-the-Pooh, and the follow-up book, The House at Pooh Corner, in one large storybook. Milne also wrote two volumes of children's verse, but those are not included in this edition. The tales of Pooh and friends transcend age. They are a delight for children, but Milne's style of writing provides amusement for the adult reader. In addition, the Pooh tales are filled with simple and true thoughts on friendship, discovery, bravery and love. This particular edition is composed of heavy, glossy pages with full color illustrations, and shows all the hallmarks of a high quality publication that ... A Great Book for Children of Any Age
This is such a wonderful and timeless book. Each story or chapter has a lesson we can all learn about ourselves and about our friendships. It's easy and enjoyable to read and young children will find the stories mezmorizing and enchanting. I bought this book for my granddaughter and read through it before giving it to her and it just reinforced my belief that all of us has the potential to be good and kind. Plus, it's a fun way to spend with those children in your life. The imagery is excellent and the stories really help you use your imagination. And the illustrations are timeless pieces of work. What a great way to spend a rainy afternoon or to wind down from a busy day. Just cuddle up with those children in your life and read or let them read to you. You won't ... A Hard-Covered Book of Memories
My family traveled a lot when I was a child, and the paperback books were always casualties when we moved. However, the lovely stories of Christopher Robin and Winnie-The-Pooh always came with me even if the books themselves didn't make it. This is a lovely collection of all the favorite Winnie-The-Pooh tales protected within a hard-cover shell. Unlike the originals, the pictures in this book are colored, but that is how I had pictured them in my mind. The book itself is very well-made, with thick acid-free paper th galmost-glossy paper that is designed to last for whenn you give this to the next generation.
