The book is a new copy (as I ordered). Arrived within the frame time. There was no way to track the shipping (which was annoying but I didn't try to contact the seller). The book was packaged in a secure envelope which protected it.

  • Review of the movie

This movie is almost the pre-make of the Gladiator movie with Russell Crowe. Steven Boyd is the main proponent, and Christopher Plummer is in the role of Commodus. As a 60's movie it's nowhere near as dark as Gladiator. But the same sorts of bad choices available to our hero. Alec Guinness is excellent Marcus Aurelius, and Sofia Loren is Boyd's love interest, but the lovers are torn by the politics of Rome.

  • An excellent, high-end production from the era of classic spectacles.

A much underrated classic spectacle from the 1960's, with some of the top stars of the time. Fall of the Roman Empire was lavishly produced in Spain, using some of the most elaborate and expensive sets ever built for a motion picture. Samuel Bronston was the same producer who was behind the classic spectacle "El Cid", produced also near Madrid, Spain in the early 1960's. Practically no expense was spared to convincingly bring an epic story from the classical world to the modern screen. The DVD reproduction of the original 70mm film is pristine, and sharp, in its transfer to video.

  • Classic epic Bronston film!

Great cast provides intelligent rendering of ancient Roman epic. Fine battle scenes and amazing reconstruction of the Roman forum.
