If you’re thinking of buying this, read this first.
I have had this unit installed for 4 days now and it is not as good as I was hoping. 1: Audio quality and volume is slightly less than the cheap stock Ford radio. 2: I like to use project m visualizer when listening to music. It is not compatible. When project m is opened all audio stops playing. Which is strange because project M has worked flawlessly with all of my previous 6 android devices, 3 of them being double din android head units. Update: project M will work with Power Amp 3: The unit has permanent buttons on the screen for climate control and tablet navigation which can never be covered by full screening an app. Look at the product pictures. The buttons on the top and bottom of the screen never go away. 4: Climate control does not start unless key is on. No climate control on ... This is not good for me being in Northern Canada where -30 C is common in the winter time. Update: When settings are turned up to high the climate control will run with command start. 5: Back up cam when connected to factory Ford cam is terrible quality and useless when it’s dark out. Maybe an aftermarket camera would be better. This is important info that buyers need to know before installing so we don’t have to do it twice. Update: there are settings in the camera app. Not sure how I got into them but I think maybe double tapping the screen. Turned up the brightness and it’s a little better. Aftermarket camera would be way better tho. 6: Bluetooth outgoing audio is so bad it is barely useable. No connection for external mic. When you take the unit apart to install air bag light cover. I recommend de-soldiering the integral mic and connecting a mic extension cable to plug in an external mic. 7: Does not read factory Ford thermometer. (No outside temperature) It does have an option to display temp but this reads 30 C all the time. It most certainly is not 30 C inside or outside my truck.
