About this product

Product Information

Packed with exciting race modes and thrilling action, "Need for Speed: Carbon" is a top racing game for the PS2. This exciting racing game for Sony PlayStation 2 immerses the player in the deadly world of underground racing. "Need for Speed: Carbon" takes place in Palmont City, the setting of prior games in the "Need for Speed" series. It starts out with a flashback scene that lets you compete against three other characters, and the scene ends with an epic police chase. You'll jump right from that race into the fast-paced gameplay. Once a bounty hunter appears on the scene, you will find yourself competing on multiple tracks to win big money and clear your name."Need for Speed: Carbon" for the PlayStation 2 comes with several modes of play, letting you change the gameplay with each run. Race modes include drift, circuit, sprint, and tollbooth. Tollbooth requires you to check in at various spots on the map in the allotted time. Sprints are shorter runs while circuits are longer competitions around a specific track. With drift races, you'll need to drift around corners to improve your time. Unlocking new moves will help you drift and complete other runs even faster. The game also comes with a career mode that lets you compete against lower-ranking characters to improve your reputation in order to unlock new locations and new characters to compete against. As your reputation grows, you'll have the chance to face off against the big boss. Other drivers will also challenge you to races you can accept or decline. You can also play in Reward Cards Mode or Quick Mode. The quick feature lets you run shorter races to win virtual cash. Reward Cards mode lets you unlock achievements that function as parts on a larger card. Complete all of the achievements, and you'll win the whole card. With Pursuit Knockout and Pursuit Tag, you can chase other vehicles as a police officer or hop in a car and hunt down criminals.Another feature of this "Need for Speed: Carbon" game for the PS2 is the access to additional game cars. You can select from 50 tunable cars, and you have the option of using codes to unlock more aftermarket parts for those vehicles. The PlayStation 2 edition from Electronic Arts also comes with an Autosculpt feature. This lets you mold and shape those parts to the look and design you want for your racing vehicle. You'll race over four areas of urban and rural payment, each broken up into sub-zones, adding up to 80 different tracks. You'll also find a Speedbreaker function that acts like a cheat in the game. This lets you slow down any race on the PS2 to gain more control over your vehicle. You can use the tuner to gain better traction as you turn right or left to escape the police. Career mode is built for single players while quick mode races can include two players on your PS2 console. Multiplayer action is available online for gang, one-on-one, and canyon battles.

Good game. It arrived as described and works very well. I definitely recommend this game if you want a ps2 racing game. The packaging was a bit crumpled though.

  • Great Game... NFS Carbon

After rebooting the franchise with Need for Speed Underground, EA has continued to produce some solid street racers under the Need for Speed banner. Last year's Need for Speed Most Wanted, which featured hilariously over-the-top live-action cutscenes and seriously tense police pursuits, proved to be a high watermark for the franchise. Now it's being followed up by Need for Speed Carbon, which downplays the role of the police chases, introduces some simple team-racing mechanics, and occasionally takes the action off the city streets and into the outlying canyons. The new gameplay doesn't always improve the experience, but the racing can still be quite intense and still has a pronounced sense of style. Carbon continues the story where Most Wanted left off. For those just tuning in, Most ...

  • NFS Carbon Review

Carbon as well know is 10th in the series and how the number 10 is a round sum he thought it would be an exceptional game. The first step that made me say that carbon will be played was that .... is the night! all I wanted after a day on the most wanted is night! The bad thing: No neon! Why EA? Well get over it skipping arcade as it otherwise would not have sense: D and find out that there is Milestones events, ah good. But even so the gameplay takes approximately 5 hours , you just get the game and immediately got 100% career completion. oh no: (. I do not have anything to reproach than the canyon duels are stupid you can not use NOS in them and see how you lose everything after flying from the mountain, that ruined the whole game! Online has saved some fun ways through which they own but ...

  • Best Racing Game Ever! (Almost) 6/10

I think this is by far the best game I have ever played. This game is for car lovers. If I had played this game beforehand, I would have paid up to $120 for this game (if it was the only one I could buy from anywhere). Logically, that is an unreasonable price, but I am just making a point. I will give a much more detailed description later; it is currently 3AM on Saturday and I want some sleep. Continued review: on 3/21/2009: I finally figured out how to edit this! I found out by accident. ___ Okay so this game makes you feel like you are going 200mph when it says you're only going like 100, and that's pretty sweet. I disabled the music because I do not like the background music. The game is very competitive, and you have to do the same races like a million times before you can win, ...
