About this product

Product Information

Few writers can evoke such nightmarish visions as H. P. Lovecraft--and few of his stories are as chilling as these canonical tales of terror. "H. P. Lovecraft has yet to be surpassed as the twentieth century's greatest practitioner of the classic horror tale."--Stephen King At the Mountains of Madness: Lovecraft's indisputable masterpiece. In the barren, windswept Antarctic, an expedition uncovers strange fossils . . . and mind-blasting terror. The Shunned House: Two men investigate the mystery of a sinister old house: the scene of unexplained deaths and weird apparitions. The Dreams in the Witch-House: In the crooked bedroom of an ancient abode, a mathematician's feverish studies lead him to a dark discovery. The Statement of Randolph Carter: The lone survivor of an unspeakable incident, Randolph Carter relates his brush with the underworld. These milestones of the macabre will compel you to read on, even as you attempt to flee the waking nightmares they inspire. At the Mountains of Madness and Other Tales of Terror is a master class in supernatural terror.

Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Descriptive & Lofty but not as good as I hoped.

I picked up this book in order to see the root of much modern day horror. H.P. Lovecraft is widely touted as a master of horror. The book is good, but not quite what I expected. His writing style is descriptive employing the full extent of the English language (get your dictionary ready). No doubt there are some concepts to brood over, but to me it read more as a thinking man's alternative to evolution. Instead of intelligent little green men you get intelligent, taller, scarier, fiercer, horrible green men who invent...well that would be telling. A quick read, definitely worth it to find out more about the writer who influenced Clive Barker, Steven King, and many of the modern horror masters.

  • Love the Craft of Lovecraft

I bought this book as a companion to the many H. P. Lovecraft books that I own. This one is 1 in a series of paperbacks collecting his wonderful stories. This particular serises has a main book with a lovely wraparound spooky disturbing cover, which each of the smaller books take parts of to form a complimentary cover. This particular book "at the mountains of madness" uses the creepy spine detail of a robed figure holding their robe open showing a skeletal ghostly frame underneath. As for the stories, At the Mountains of Madness is one of his top stories, full of eldrich horrors and disturbing veiws into the past. Though the mysteries are always easy to figure out (at least by the reader) the antagonists are always so very suprised at the end, and it is a fun ride to see their ...

  • Love it!

Bought this for a class I'm taking this semester. Found it much cheaper here. Looks almost brand new. Not a single bit of writing or highlighting in the book.

I bought this book for my 30 year old daughter. She loves books on horror, so I thought she should at least read the author sho started it all.
