About this product

Product Information

Adam Smith's masterpiece, first published in 1776, is the foundation of modern economic thought and remains the single most important account of the rise of, and the principles behind, modern capitalism. Written in clear and incisive prose, The Wealth of Nations articulates the concepts indispensable to an understanding of contemporary society; and Robert Reich's Introduction both clarifies Smith's analyses and illuminates his overall relevance to the world in which we live. As Reich writes, "Smith's mind ranged over issues as fresh and topical today as they were in the late eighteenth century-jobs, wages, politics, government, trade, education, business, and ethics." Introduction by Robert Reich .Commentary by R. H. Campbell and A. S. Skinner .Includes a Modern Library Reading Group Guide

"Adam Smith's enormous authority resides, in the end, in the same property that we discover in Marx: not in any ideology, but in an effort to see to the bottom of things." --Robert L. Heilbroner

Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Requisite reading for the self illuminated

Smith breaks down the basic elements of commerce and explores the profit motive as well as the origins of currency, debt, depreciation, inflation and more. The text is lengthy and detailed but provides an eye opening education and shines new light on our current situation, much of which was predicted via reason by Smith 230 years ago. This text should be required reading for all economics, business and political science students. Abstracts and abridged selections should at least be read by all. Many things we seem to forget today are clearly outlined, though at great length, in The Wealth of Nations. Read it and you'll be shocked at what your government has been doing to you and your fellow citizens by manipulating the value of currency to short-change its creditors. Essential ...
