    ART WORK is 5 stars! Story has sad ending; best 4 grade-school children not preschool.

    I recommend it mostly for the art work. The art work is 5 stars. The story is ok. Ending was interesting, but I have to say that for small children it might be too depressing of an ending. It wouldl probably work for older grade school children, but not preschool. I liked the song John Henry sand, and I know that a lot of people could relate to that song; especially the working man/woman.

    Classic!

    This book is a classic. The story is floklore, but has hidden life ques. This is a fun to read and interesting book. The pictures are also great watercolor paintings. My husband remembered this book from his childhood and smiled when he took it out of the package. What memories!
