Okay for Christians...
This book is simply the bible without the so called "metaphorical" magic stories. So if you are someone who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ but is skeptical of the magic protrayed in the bible (such as myself) then I believe this is a great choice. I must attest though that the book I revived was purple and not black, as the picture would suggest.

This is a great book for anybody who is interested even remotely in world history, or the history of the United States government and its relation to Christianity. It shows, just by its essence, the deliberate intentions for separation of Church and state, while not sacrificing spirituality and morality. In this book, Jefferson omits the more meticulous and historically obscured parts of what is now accepted today as The New Testament. However, he leaves the underlying truth - the parables which could apply to any human and are not attempting to be exclusive to any religious institution, club or arrogant following of whatever sort. I think this would have been Jesus' favorite of the Bibles by far. ---Well worth anyone's time to read. (Although, if your computer screen is like mine and ... Evidently some of the above writers haven’t read the book. Jefferson was facing national issues affected by in his presidency. After studying the worlds greatest philosophers and comparing them to Jesus, he felt Jesus far exceeded them in every case. After he retired he wrote this book. And he DID include many passages on the supernatural and miraculous works of Jesus. In 1902 Congress reprinted 9000 copies at government expense, Andover the next 50 years a copy was given to every senator and representative at their swearing in. That it was “Jefferson’s Bible” is erroneous, as it was solely what he wanted it to be: an abridgment to the gospels for missionary use among the Indians.Evidently some of the above writers haven’t read the book. I like it because it's in good condition and may possibly prove to be a version of the bible to where at least most of the crap from Mithra cults may have been removed. It's a shame they allow such Blasphemy in the texts. Basically Christians are worshiping the Persian pagan God of ancient times from before Jesus' time known as Mithra under the name Jesus. I think it would only do good for light to be shed on this subject because after it is, I am sure people will see how religions are used for man to gain power and thus not to trust any data man has had the power to corrupt. Controversy is a travesty always waiting to re-happen........ again! Jesus was in fact just a philosopher and political activist who wanted the roman empire overthrown, in fact some sources say that he ... The Jefferson Bible
I had read a story of Jefferson cutting parts out of his Bible. That which he removed being the teaching of the divinity of Jesus. This is what I found in what is sub-titled the life and morals of Jesus of Nazerath. Ii has only selected parts of the Gospels. There are no passages of the Acts of the Apostles; nor are there any of the Letters of Paul, Peter etc. I whis the publisher would have included an historical introduction. You can find reference to this product of Jefferson in many other places, including "Founding Faith" by Steven WaldmanI had read a story of Jefferson cutting parts out of his Bible.
