Good buy unless...
Bought this 2hp pump to replace a Hayward. Very quite and primes well. No leaks and basket lid seems to seal fine. Only getting 15 psi so it doesn't work well at all with my spa waterfall. Water does not pour out of the spa into the pool with enough pressure to get the desired effect. I have not used the jets in the spa alone with this pump but I assume the pressure will be lower as well. If you are using it for a pool only it is a good product for a generic pump. Good buy at less than half price of Hayward. Time will tell since it has been installed for only a few weeks. Another note: use a good amount of Teflon tape on threads to get a tight seal when installing. Had no problem getting proper 2inch pvc fitting at Home Depot. Not a fan
This pool pump is not comparable with the models it claims to replace. It is also not self priming. It took me forever to get it primed. It also loses pressure and I have to turn it off and restart it regularly. It is keeping my water flowing in the pool but because it loses pressure it's also pushing air through the lines. Easy Install
Have a 2 inch piping system for my 15,000 gallon in ground pool. The fittings to screw onto the outside threads were $27 each. Went with the 2 inch inside threads available at Home Depot. Very quiet operating. Already pre-wired for 220vac. I do recommend fabricating a cover shield using galvanized sheet metal, cheap at HD, just for back of motor housing just to prevent water splashing UP into motor AC area. Died after 1 year of service, leaks air and water
Purchased this pump last year in May 2015 to replace my pool pump. It died today June 2016, about 7 days after the warranty. Ran good and quiet but today the motor froze up. Another problem is the seals are no good. Mine started leaking between the pump motor and the pump housing about a week after installation. I put a wrench to it and it had no effect then I forgot about it. Also the cover for the basket doesn't tighten down enough so it sucks air. All I can say is, you get what you pay for. Don't be fooled by the cheap price. If you don't have the know-how to fix this yourself you'll be spending a lot more money in the long run to have someone else do it.
