Chord Buddy is a great value - Be aware of the neck size of your acoustic guitar though.
When I received the Chord Buddy system, I was excited to get started on my journey into guitar playing. However, upon installation of the unit onto the neck of the guitar, I found that what I own is a student guitar that has a slightly wider neck than a standard guitar. After reviewing installation tips on YouTube, and attempting several times to install, I could not do so. I paid over 47.00 for this and now I can not use it. For someone who has a smaller neck size guitar, this would be a great investment. For me, not so much. My advice to Chord Buddy is to create an upgraded version to include a wider installation capability and more chords than just the original 4 in the training packet.When I received the Chord Buddy system, I was excited to get started on my journey into guitar playing. Difficult to attach chord buddy to get rubber feet centered on the strings.
I purchased the Chord Buddy because it had been a number of years since I played my acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitar's strings sit higher above the fretboard and therefore cause more pain in finger tips that do not have toughened skin. I have attempted to get the Chord Buddy correctly installed on my guitar but invariably, the device moves slightly while in use and the rubber-footed tabs do not center on the strings causing a flat note or buzzing. Since the device is plastic where it attaches to the guitar, I would hesitate to attempt to tighten it more than I already have for fear of breaking it. Maybe it is the string to fretboard height on my particular guitar. If this problem could be solved, I can foresee this device being helpful for beginners. Guess I'll just have to toughen up the ... Don't waste your money
I was excited to get this and when it arrived I watched both the video that comes with it and Travis Perry's internet video on how to install it. I've been trying to install it now for two days but to no avail. It is on correctly according to these videos. The blue "G" cord operates fine. The red "D" cord and green "C" cord need a ton of pressure to push down and still don't play properly. The D cord won't play the high E string and the C cord won't play the B string. The little feet that are supposed to push the strings down don't work on these strings. I've had this off and on several times and the results are the same. I don't know what others are like but this one was a waste of money. Books are ok but the mechanism is junk.
The ChordBuddy mechanism is poorly made. The level of the glued on pads that press the strings is inconsistently up or down or crooked making it impossible to use.
