Very small, manual settings available
As a professional photographer, I carry this one in my purse in case I see something to shoot and don't have my professional Canon SLRs with me. I bought it for a family vacation and was pleased with both the stills and short video clips I took - and loved not having to cart around my heavy gear. It looks like a normal point and shoot, although it has many more features, so it's not a "target" for would-be thieves. If you shoot a lot, the battery does not last long, so buy 2 extras and carry them with you, along with a charger. Excellent Image Quality in and Incredible Small Package
For starters I am a Nikon person.. BUT when it comes to P&S Cameras my choices have always been Canon, I had many Nikon,Olympus,Panasonic... but Canon's always has the best image quality over all. The Canon Powershot S110 does not disappoint, It has a simple look, fit's easy in a pocket, it's super fast to start up (less than 2 seconds!!), strong flash and very smart features. This model allows you to transfer images to your phone,Ipad or PC without the need for cables all via WiFi. touchscreen is a nice feature but I don't use it much since i still like the little wheel in the back, plus the ring around the lens can be assigned to do different things that suit your needs ( I use it to select between JPG,RAW, or RAW+JPG ) Did I mention it shoots RAW!!?. Battery life is OK, not great but ... For starters I am a Nikon person.. I really like the Canon 110 that I just purchased. Previously, I really like the Canon S100 and used it for several years. A few months ago, the lens on the S100 would not retract and nothing worked on the camera. In checking online, I found that this was a recurring problem with this model. I sent the camera back to Canon, and was told that the repair would run close to $ 200, even though Canon was well aware of the problem, and had repaired many of the other S100 cameras that fell within a range of serial numbers. I declined on the repair and purchased this S110, but I have heard that it also is susceptible to the same problem. So, while I love the camera, it has everything I want in a pocket size model (it shoots in RAW, has a manual mode, easy to do HDR with multiple shots at ... I really like the Canon 110 that I just purchased. Previously, I really like the Canon S100 and used it for several years. The S110 is a stellar pocket camera that can serve as one's ONLY camera!
I already own the S95 and have used it extensively. I bought this one as a gift for my wife. So far she likes it very much. I haven't had my hands on it too much. This is better than the S95 camera in some ways. The function wheel on the rear on this one has better detents and that's far better. The zoom range is somewhat wider (24-120mm) which is great, compared to the S95 (28-105mm). The speed of capturing photos is even faster than the S95 which is already fast for a 7 oz. pocket camera. We were disappointed that Canon had changed the battery type from the S95 because I have about 5 -6 batteries for the S95! On the plus side, this S110 has built in wi-fi so it can transfer to IOS devices etc on the fly sans cable. Also on the plus side with this series of cameras is the ability ... I already own the S95 and have used it extensively. I bought this one as a gift for my wife. So far she likes it very much. I haven't had my hands on it too much. This means far less going into the menus to make often used adjustments that are so necessary for someone who really knows how to take photos. This one feature absolutely separates this series from every other pocket camera I know of at any price! The S110 has 1080P video with stereo, the S95 has 720p video. In my opinion, 720p is plenty. I've done beautiful video with the S95, the S110 is equal or superior. This isn't a very big deal. The S110 has 12 MP compared to the S95's 10 MP. Again, this means essentially nothing! Bottom line- This is a secret weapon in the camera world! It has the ability to take photos that are far superior to most cameras of this size. To have this capability in a small, light package like this is unbelievable! I also have a Nikon 7100 w/ many lenses. When reviewing photos that have been transferred into the MacBookPro in Aperture 3, I usually have to review the metadata to see which camera took the picture! This says it all. For all but the extreme shooting situations such as the need for super wide lenses or very difficult low light this camera can rival a top end DSLR. Think about that! Many folks find this hard to believe, but it's true. The S110 is not cheap, but it can perform in a very big way! Sometimes when out shooting, someone will walk up and say " I have a pocket camera like that!" And I look and say "that's nice." But in reality, most often there's very little comparison between what they're shooting and the S110. To get superior photos, the S110 isn't totally necessary, but it sure makes the journey a lot easier.

Good camera
Bought this camera to use for diving and it really works great. It's fairly easy to use and takes excellent photos underwater with a water proof housing. Even better pictures on land. I would recommend this camera.I use it in auto mode but it has many features available for manual photos also.It has a ring that functions as some type of control that surrounds the lens. Not sure how to use it and the online manual does not really explain it. That is my only complaint. All the functions can be used without the ring control so I don't really care.Bought this camera to use for diving and it really works great.
