Fantastic WiFi extender, better than traditional.

I came across this WiFi extender from my security provider. I saw how it worked and was different from the traditional. I did some research and found it uses G.hn technology. I did not want to use multiple powerline extenders or traditional extenders as I want to use the same as my security system. I tried another G.hn provider and it did not want to sync, so I had to use the same OEM.

Works well but very difficult to set up

With only three LEDs identified by cryptic icons and two buttons, the communication with this device during setup is quite limited. No instructions came with it, and I could not find a manual for this model, but I did find one for an older model and that was somewhat helpful, though still lacked many details. I had to reset each unit and get them set up (paired) when plugged in very close together before deploying them at a greater distance. Using a portable computer connected to the LAN by wire only at the far end of the bridge (from the LAN router) helped with verifying the bridge was operating effectively. Having expertise in network function and setup was needed for setting up this bridge and I do not recommend attempting to set up a bridge using these devices by anyone lacking such ...

  • Difficult Setup - Here's What Worked for Me

As others have mentioned in their reviews, these are a pain to setup if you don't know how to do it (which you probably won't, since this doesn't come with any kind of setup guide or manual). Googling around will get you pretty much nowhere, since a instructions for this particular model don't appear to have been uploaded online anywhere. Here's what worked for me: 1. Use a power extension cord (not ethernet) to plug your new unit into the outlet of the device that is directly connected to your modem / router / internet box. 2. Press the button with the lock on it (should be the only press-able button on the device) on both devices. This will cause the 1st LED light (furthest to left) to blink on both boxes. 3. After a few seconds, they should sync up. Test your new box by connecting a ...

  • A bit tricky to setup

This device works great when paired. I have 5 paired together in my home now, adding this unit was a bit tricky at first due to lack of a guide, if your familiar setting it take 3/5 minutes. I didn't want to mess up the other adapters i had pair, took a few tries to figure out how to add this node. Tested this node in a few places around my home. Network speed varies based on distance from main unit. More stable than a wireless extender, a great way to create ethernet access points or POE nodes

  • Not working for me

Tried many ways to make my Zinwell 8141 adapter to connect to each other with no luck yet. It would be nice to have the directions because obviously there is a trick to make this work. Might be easy peasy if you had instructions but seems hopeless without.
