About this product

Product Information

"Reminiscent of the best war literature, such as John Hersey's Hiroshima , Michael Herr's Dispatches , and Michael Kelly's Martyr's Day ." -- The Washington Post The Fall of Baghdad is a masterpiece of literary reportage about the experience of ordinary Iraqis living through the endgame of the Saddam Hussein regime, its violent fall, and the troubled American occupation. In channeling a tragedy of epic dimensions through the stories of real people caught up in the whirlwind of history, Jon Lee Anderson has written a book of timeless significance.

This is a necessary book, the best I’ve read about Iraq. (David Lipsky, The New York Times Book Review ) Never before have we seen Iraq... from this perspective and in such depth. ( The Washington Post ), "This is a necessary book, the best I've read about Iraq." --David Lipsky, The New York Times Book Review "Revelatory . . . Anderson shows how a well-wrought word-picture is aworth a thousand hours of CNN." -- The Village Voice "Indispensable for understanding what is going on inside Iraqi society today." -- The Washington Post "In this measured, keenly descriptive account, hindsight gives way to horror as the early rumblings of war become reality and the city of Baghdad is changed beyond recognition." -- The New York Times, This is a necessary book, the best I’ve read about Iraq. (David Lipsky, The New York Times Book Review) Never before have we seen Iraq... from this perspective and in such depth. (The Washington Post)

Product is 95% alike picture but a little more blurry. Controller play well but had a notice from psn that my joypad wasn't authentic and could by problematic🤷‍♂️ no trouble so far! Shipping was fast but no tracking and worst packaging ever.. like the box came banged up... send a question to seller never had a reply 😅.... Good product overall, excellent price, fast shipping, wrapped only on 4 sides out of 6, no tracking and never reply... 4★ product / 2★ seller ✌️

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Well worth reading

Tells the story of the human side of the political decisions made in the centers of power where the consequences of thier actions are rarelely felt. I think we should all read this book to put our minds back to the reality of what it means to go to war against another nation which did nothing to deserve the violence we so anxiously bestowed upon it.

  • the fall of baghdad

i dont know to much about jon but reading this book sure makes me think he has some real talent. the book really puts you in the shoes of some real gutsy fellows or they just have a death wish!! either way a very outstanding read!!
