About this product

Product Information

Few novelists today write with the power to move our hearts, quicken our souls, and enrich our lives like Luanne Rice. In "New York Times" bestsellers such as "Dance with Me, Beach Girls," and "The Secret Hour," she vividly captures the dramas that make all the difference in love and families. Now, revisiting the remarkable characters introduced in her bestselling "Summer' s Child," she brings full circle one of her most compelling explorations of the human heart... all the many ways it can be broken... and the magic that can make it whole again. Their lives were a tapestry woven together by love and loss, tragedy and hope. On the windswept coast of Nova Scotia, Lily and her eight-year-old daughter, Rose, are struggling to embrace a new life even as Lily tries to let go of painful memories of the past. Among the lives that will touch theirs are those of Liam Neill, a dedicated teacher living in self-imposed isolation; Maeve Jameson, mourning the loss of a granddaughter she devoted her life to protecting; and Mark Murphy, a dogged police detective obsessed with a woman who vanished years ago- who may or may not have found what he seeks in a tiny, out-of-the-way maritime village. During this eventful summer of roses, the paths- and fates- of these unforgettable characters will intersect in ways that none of them could ever expect- and shape a future none of them could possibly foresee. For each of them it will be a time of renewal and transformation that will circle inevitably to a past left behind, a mystery unsolved, and a love reclaimed. "Summer of Roses" is vintage Luanne Rice- a novel that celebrates the ties of family, the passionof lovers, and the deep, unbreakable bonds that hold us together through all the seasons of our lives. "From the Hardcover edition."

The book is in perfect condition, brand new, and is exactly as described. This item is difficult to find here, and the seller priced it very reasonably. It shipped from the UK to Canada, and unfortunately took a little longer to arrive than the seller hoped, but it was shipped less than 24 hours after I purchased. When I contacted the seller, they were very responsive and helpful. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again. Definitely recommend!

  • Summer of Roses by Luanne Rice

Having read Summer's Child I was compelled to read the follow-up book, Summer of Roses. Luanne Rice depicted the characters wonderfully. Lily had left her abusive husband nine years earlier and raised her daughter, Rose, in a small town in Alaska. She has never forgotten her Granny, the woman who raised her and helped her to escape her violent husband. Who would think that another woman, Marissa, would find herself and her daughter, Jessica, running from the same man and end up in the same town, becoming friends with Lily after their daughters find friendship with each other. Both women had suffered violence by the same controlling man. Both wanted better for their daughters. And both women were able to start a new life and find new friends. When Patrick, a retired police detective who ...

  • Second Book in Series

This book is the sequel to "Summer's Child" Lily Malone still has much to fear even after her nine year old daughter successfully undergoes open heart surgery. You will learn in "Summer's Child" that before Rose's birth, Lily staged her own disappearance to flee an abusive husband, who has never given up looking for them. Lily now lives in a small Nova Scotia harbor town and has come to feel finally safe after all these years, but she has always carried the guilt of being away from her grandmother, Maeve, who was the one who raised her after her parents death. Lily receives word that Maeve is in a coma, believed due to her abusive ex-husband. She must make a decision to risk her own safety and go to Maeve letting Maeve know that she and Rose are okay and that they are there for ...

  • Summer of Roses

This was a continuation of the book Summers Child. The book had a lot of suspense and a surprising ending. It educated on the different types of abuse that there are, and what to watch for in relationships. It also showed of love so tender and endearing Lily didn't realise that it had happened to her. Luanne Rice is a good author that brings you right into the story, I really enjoyed the book.

  • Ehh.
