About this product

Product Information

When you are trying to capture a special moment on camera, you want a lens that will work as hard as you do to get the perfect picture. The Sigma DC 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 HSM DC OS Lens for Canon is a good choice for both professional photo shoots and the backyard birthday party. It is a multipurpose lens that works equally well for travel, landscape, family, and nature or wildlife photography. Equipped with cool features like a super multi-layer coating to reduce flare and ghosting, and a hypersonic motor to ensure quick and quiet autofocusing, you are guaranteed high image quality with these lenses. The lenses also have a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for blurring areas out of focus. The Sigma DC 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 HSM DC OS lens also has auto zoom with an extended 13.9 range and a longer focal length of 18 to 250 millimeters. The lens aperture is F3.5-6.3, and the mini aperture is 22. The maximum magnification possible with the Sigma DC is 0.29x. The filter thread is 72 millimeters, which is ideal for filter users. Chromatic aberration is also reduced with the Sigma DC 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 HSM DC OS lLens for Canon. Weighing only 1.04 ounces, this digital camera lens is compact and very sturdy. A brass-made bayonet mount provides reinforcement and stability and the thermally stable composite material that it is built with minimizes the effect of temperature on the lens. There are three switches on the Sigma 18-250mm lens. The first one is a lock that prevents the lens barrel from accidentally extending and the second is to switch between auto-focus and manual focus. Both aperture and shutter speed are important pillars of photography. In manual focus, you can individually set both aperture (f3.5-6) and shutter speed. The third switch is to turn on and off the optical stabilization. Use optical stabilization when the lens is on a tripod. Perfect for when you don’t want to lug around a lot of lenses and accessories for your digital camera, this Sigma is a multipurpose lens that allows you to do everything from wide angle to telephoto to macro photography and it has great zoom ratio that ensures consistent sharp images no matter if it is a close-up or distance shot. The lens’ macro capabilities will allow you to make small items or creatures larger than life. The SIGMA 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM also includes an anti-shake function for image stabilization. Note that this lens is to be used with Canon EOS DSLR camera in place of the Canon EF lens only, but it also comes in versions for Nikon, Pentax, Sigma and Sony as well. The lens comes with accessories like a lens hood as well as a front and rear cap. Make sure you have a tripod for macro photography. You will be surprised by the lens’ powerful macro capabilities. Altogether, the SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM offers good value if you are looking to take a step up from the kit lens that came with your camera, but you do not want to make a hefty investment. With a great aperture range of f3.5-6, you get both the speed and sharpness of a prime lens along with the convenience of a zoom lens so that every shot you take is a good one. Whether you are out on safari, at a fashion show, or at your kid’s baseball game, the Sigma 18-250mm lens will help you capture the moment perfectly.

Good lens at a great price, but an Issue with New Canon Cameras.

As a general all-purpose lens, the quality of build, the quality of images, and the great price far exceeds my expectations. One can buy a Canon lens for 3x the cost and get the same quality build and quality images, but the price is difference in savingsfrom the Sigma as compared to the Canon lenses. Btw, this Sigma lens and other standard Sigma lenses are off exposure by 1 and 1/3 stops when installed on the new released Canon cameras, such as the 90D. I tested this lens and other Sigma lenses on the Canon 90D, compared to the 7D Mark II and the Gossen Luna Pro light meter. I have to set C1 (programmable) with an exposure compensation of +1 and 1/3 stops. I informed Canon Tech Support and Sigma Tech Support about this issue. I also read an article that the Canon 1DX Mark II has the ...

    Sticks and takes dark pictures

I bought this for my wife, who liked my Cannon 18-135 and I thought this would be better because of a greater range. It does zoom in more, but that's the only thing better than Cannon. The unit does not zoom smoothly, but sticks really bad. After reading other reviews, this is a characteristic of this lens. Not good. Also while trying to figure out a way to make it quit sticking, I read that several users were reporting dark pictures, so I experimented. The camera is a Cannon D70. I took a picture in "C" mode and forced "no flash" to let the camera automatically adjust to the lighting. The picture was taken in daylight in a room that was naturally lit, but not bright. The pic taken with the Cannon lens was bright and vivid in colors with excellent light adjustment. The Sigma, ...

  • Best All-in-one Super Zoom

Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Macro for Canon The most acclaimed all-in-one super zoom lens. High quality, features and affordability makes it a must have for any DSLR camera. This is the newest model of this lens with Macro, more complex, reduced size, improved close-up ability, fast autofocus, accurate and distinctly sharper. You got it all with this lens, from the distant far away subject to the nearest close up; from the widest scene to the closest detail. You will be able to photograph that far away tower with the diminutive clock as well as photograph the exact time in that clock, all from the same spot. And best of all, it is so little, you can take it anywhere anytime without having to carry several lenses, in fact this is the smallest lens of its kind in the ...

  • Good

The lens I got is in a good condition. Clean in and out. Focus is noisy as it is not using USM motor. It does not work very well with Eos m. Should be better on DSLR.

  • a good all a round general purpose lens

I am using this lens to replace a Tamron 18-270 (gen1) and Canon 17-85 lens. It is much smaller than the Tamron making it easier to keep on the camera. It produces good sharp images and macro images. although it is a bit soft wide open but when comparing those 18mm shots between the three lenses I find very similar results. and the Tamron 270mm images are also very soft, this one is not at full length of 250mm. this is my first Sigma lens and I must say i am very impresses, this lens is a good all a round general purpose lens that can be left on the camera 90% of the time. I can't wait to travel with it.
