About this product

Product Information

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

"...enough action to please Hunger Games fans and leaves enough questions tantalizingly unanswered for readers to be desperate for the next installment." - Schol Library Journal (starred review) August 13, 2009, Praise for The Hunger Games "A violent, jarring, speed-rap of a novel that generates nearly constant suspense. . . . A trilogy with everything high school students (and up) really love, and then some...

I recently acquired this trilogy for my (almost) 24 y/o daughter who, despite reading only the 1st book some time ago, really liked what she had read from that one book, so I attempted to find all three in one fell swoop. You get a little bit of everything from this dystopian-set series: Action, romance, humor, drama, suspense, it's all there. I personally had never heard of this series until I had watched part of the first movie several months ago. As violent and intimidating as some of the content is, you do get a good, powerful message in these books and films: "In a world where there is little to do (or eat), you need to do what you can to survive, and empower yourself to take down your foes (whether they are real or they're your inner demons), despite the potentially insurmountable ...

    Missing info

I understand not all 2nd hand books are ideal. But when a company like Thrift takes pride in selling gently used books you'd think it would be nice to include in the description 'MISSING COVER'. I wouldn't have bought it if I new it was missing. But your photo clearly showed one. To spend THIS much on a cover free book is a JOKE!
