About this product

Product Information

Former publisher Acclaim's daring dinosaur-hunting series has been saved from the brink of extinction courtesy of Touchstone. Turok is a re-imagining of the franchise, a first-person shooter infused with aspects of stealth and survival horror, as players explore a planet rife with prehistoric creatures. Unlike the Native American protagonists found in the comic books and Acclaim video games, main character Joseph Turok is a futuristic Special Forces soldier on a mission to capture a war criminal named Roland Kane. After his spacecraft is shot down during its final approach, Turok realizes he no longer has the element of surprise. He must now rely on his extensive military expertise to defeat Kane's soldiers, genetically altered dinosaurs, and other creatures in the lush jungles of a hostile, unfamiliar world.

One of the game's distinguishing features, aside from the anachronistic theme, is the manner in which players can engage the enemy. Instead of blasting everything that stomps, slithers, or runs, players can lure dinosaurs to attack other creatures or soldiers by creating well-timed distractions. Stealth tactics involving bows and knives are possible, as is the more "direct" approach with such weapons as railguns, shotguns, and flamethrowers. Vehicles can also be used to help navigate the hazardous terrain, and members of Turok's elite squad will periodically assist players in coordinated attacks against groups of enemies. Up to 16 players can complete online in multiple game modes, including variants on deathmatch, capture-the-flag, and other team-oriented formats. Turok is Canadian developer Propaganda Games' first software release.

    Game review

Read several bad reviews on this game my take is it brought back good memories from the N64. To me had an Ok story but the dinosaurs were generic and you fought the same ones over and over just different colors. All in all I love it but it probably has to do with me being such a big turok fan from the earlier Nintendo days. And this is nothing like or even close to the original story.

  • Turok: Rumble in the Jungle

Pros: 1. Stealth kills with bow and knife. This is one of the best and most challenging parts of the game. 2. Intelligent AI. Enemies are constantly trying to flank you. This game is tough even on Normal setting. 3. The silly little awards you win for certain kills. For example, in the underground base I steathily approached three MG soldiers, then tossed a grenade in the middle of their meeting. After all three soldiers expired, the game awarded me a "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, BOOM" award. If you kill the T-rex with your knife, you receive a "Big Game Dino Hunter" award. Also, if you pin an MG soldier to the wall with an arrow, you will receive an award. These awards don't help you finish the game or give you power-ups, but it is fun to win them. 4. Gorgeous jungle graphics. It is so primal to be ...

  • Turok (PS3)

I originally had a Turok game on N64, back in the day, which was a bitter disappointment. However this game is 1000% better. If you are into darkroom gaming as I am,from the begining of the game you will love the games setting. A volcanic, flesh eating dinosaur planet overrun with villianous mercenary troops.. All of which are after you and your team relentlessly for 14 levels of violent action. The weapons selection has something for everyone. I have played the game twice once with heavy weapons and the other with light stealthy weapons. The only exception is when you have to beat the larger dinosaurs which need to be thought out and the correct weapon must be used. The only problem with the game as I saw it was that there was not enough confrontations throught the game with the ...

  • TUROK: Klingon for "Shut off that damn backgrnd music!"

Turok PS3 is pretty much the same as the XBOX 360 and PC versions,.. well 'ugly much' the same. While it retains the basic storyline, it is inferior in graphic detail and textures and has a jerky slowdown in framerate at several points in the game where the visual and technical action get intense. It is playable and even a good first person shooter both in terms of graphics and storyline,- although there are long periods of boring lackluster visuals and action, followed by occasional brief interludes where you find yourself actually enjoying the experience. TUROK is Klingon for "Shut off that damn background music!" As I more than eluded to in the title of my review,- one of the most annoying [almost unbearable at times] things about this game was the lack of an option to turn off the ...

  • ...and I don’t even like 1st person shooters.

The Turok games have only been so so. Then this final installment and a stroke of genius. 10/10...and I don’t even like 1st person shooters. From the story line, to the voice acting, gameplay and opposition, this is one for the archives. I really wanted a sequel or at the very least an HD remake like BioShock got for PS4 or Xbox one. I love this game.
