Dark Messiah: Might and Magic -- Limited Edition features four new and a rather a multiplayer game character skin, a bonus DVD that includes ten audio tracks taken from the game, a map of the sprawling multiplayer world and a "making of" documentary. Beginning 18 years after Heroes of Might and Magic V, Dark Messiah: Might and Magic features a campaign that begins 18 years after Heroes of Might and Magic V. Single players take the role of Sareth, to wield both might and magic against orcs, goblins, trolls, dragons, an undead horde, and other minions of the Dark Messiah who threatens the world of Ashan. Built on Valve's Half-Life 2 "Source" game engine, Dark Messiah: Might and Magic aims to offer smooth action in a game world rich with detail. The game's multiplayer modes support up to 32 players, and along with the obligatory "Deathmatch" and "Team Deathmatch" modes, the multiplayer arena includes a "Crusade" mode that emphasizes teamwork in multi-match competition. In "Crusade," players choose one of five character classes, such as warrior or mage. Throughout the game, there are opportunities to increase characters' skills as they complete battles. After each round, a "dynamic campaign" feature determines the next map's location, as well as the items and skills you can gain between rounds, by analyzing completion statistics from the previous conflict. "Crusade" mode creates a tug-of-war battle style by moving the next skirmish closer to the stronghold of the last skirmish's loser. When one team wins, the battle is moved away from its stronghold, but if the team loses the next conflict, the following battle moves back to the middle. The game ends when one stronghold is destroyed, or when a team loses all of its tickets. Tickets are a type of death card, and every time a player is killed or loses control of a spawn point, a ticket is taken away. After a campaign is completed, all experience for each character is set back to zero.

Not a diamond in the rough, but a precious gem for sure!
What can be said about Dark Messiah Might and Magic..hmmmm....unexpected. I really have not had a full chance to go through the entire game yet because of a very full schedule, but from what I have played so far, I have enjoyed it. It's more First Person Shooter then RPG though. The RPG elements come from the small skill tree. The skill tree itself is nowhere near as large or deep as games like Diablo 2, The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion or Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim. Yet I still do enjoy the little perks the skills do offer. The voice acting is just average, not good not bad. It is way better then Two Worlds and Legend Hand of God. I have not run into any control issues except that running and side stepping in this game feels kind of delayed and strange. The games graphical splendor is amazing! I ... I have a lower end video card and the graphics are maxed out with no slow down at all!!! The game play itself is rather fun I admit. Environmental dangers can be used to the fullest extend here. See that guard over there enjoying the cliff-side view? Well he can be kicked off the ledge and to his imminent death! Spikes can also impale enemies as well. Limbs can also be lopped off too. So far I really like this game. I do suggest it to anyone that is looking for some fun. And for a low price you can't go wrong!

Dark Messiah review
Excellent single player game. Unfortunately the multi-player is only available through steam. For more information on steam check out their website. I have a brand new computer, with a geforce 8600gt. It runs ok at full settings but will be a lot smoother at medium settings. The single player game is relatively linear. You have one path to take and you pretty much follow it through the game. It isn't a "Morrowind" style rpg where you can basically do whatever you want. There is a point whether you can choose a "dark site" or not, but that is about it. The controls could be done a little better. There are a lot of skills you're going to want handy, and only have the number slots to put them. The sword and shield combo doesn't change automatically, so you have to equipt the sword, then ... These are all petty complaints compared the the game. The game is worth every penny you pay for it on ebay. I bought mine for a total of $11. It was a dmg box, but I don't care about the box, the cd case was still plastic wrapped and in perfect condition.

Great Action
This has everything you could ask for. Great fighting action, puzzles, you name it. Who cares if the multiplayer is through Steam? So are all the Half Life games, and I love every one of them too. If you're looking for a great ACTION based RPG, gonna be hard to do much better, especially if you're staying away from MMORPGs. Highly Recommended by the Game Guy!
