Solid Bing Collection W/ Music From 1930s Through 1950s
The Bing Crosby Centennial Collection: 1903-1977 is an all-around enjoyable set of two CDs. Don't be fooled by the name, because these CDs actually cover music from the 1930s through the 1950s, not 1903 to 1977 (the years of Bing's life). You won't hear Crosby's later recordings, but you will get many of his best from the early years and zenith of his career. There are fifty tracks total and interesting liner notes. This collection includes several excellent songs which you won't find on many CDs, as well as favorites which it's always nice to hear again. I especially enjoy "Some Of These Days," "Red Sails In The Sunset," "I'm An Old Cowhand," "Only Forever," "Riders In The Sky," "Play A Simple Melody," "Sam's Song," "Gone Fishin'," "In The Cool, Cool, Cool Of The Evening," "Silver ... This is a solid collection of Bing Crosby's music, and I recommend it to both those just becoming acquainted with Crosby and long-time fans of Bing.
