The focus is on the 1972 investigation of the break-in to the Democratic Party headquarters, otherwise known as the Watergate burglary. Through a complicated web of intrigue and secrecy that eventually involves the highest levels of government, hungry young journalists Woodward (Robert Redford) and Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman) of the Washington Post aggressively examine the incident, uncovering information that ultimately leads to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Exceptional performances by Redford and Hoffman are complemented by Jason Robards as the dubious but supportive executive editor at the Post, and Hal Holbrook's celebrated characterization of mysterious informer Deep Throat.     PERHAPS THE BEST "NEWWSPAPER" MOVIE EVER!!!

    Excellent writing, directing, and acting in this historical, fact-based movie about the events surrounding the Watergate investigation of the 1970s. Redford and Hoffman both turn in superlative performances as Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post, the newspaper that broke the Watergate story that led to the resignation of then president Richard M. Nixon. In addition to those performances Jason Robards puts in an Oscar-winning performance as Ben Bradley, the editor of the WAPO. Also stars veteran character actors Jack Warden, Martin Balsom, and Hal Holbrook as the mysterious "Deep Throat".

    I've seen this movie on widescreen laserdisc and normal flat dvd. Now it get SUPER HI-DEF transfer for this digibook release. Excellent treatment for a movie that's more than 30 years old.
