About this product

Product Information

Low-life writer and unrepentant alcoholic Henry Chinaski was born to survive. After decades of slacking off at low-paying dead-end jobs, blowing his cash on booze and women, and scrimping by in flea-bitten apartments, Chinaski sees his poetic star rising at last. Now, at fifty, he is reveling in his sudden rock-star life, running three hundred hangovers a year, and maintaining a sex life that would cripple Casanova. With all of Bukowski's trademark humor and gritty, dark honesty, this 1978 follow-up to Post Office and Factotum is an uncompromising account of life on the edge.

Book just as pictured & described. Book jacket has tears, but interior of the book is fantastic. However, the packaging of this order left a lot to be desired! The book jacket was already well worn, & the book was simply placed in a padded envelope & sent. No extra wrapping to protect the book jacket at all.

  • Can't go wrong with a little Bukowski

This is one of my most favorite books from Charles Bukowski. I've read it several times and it gets better with every read. I recommend this book if you like raunchy, raw material that just tells it straight up. In this book he uses his fictional character, Hank Chinaski, but if you know the author/poet then you know that this basically means its his experience just a little amount of fiction added in. It's graphic FYI. So, if you are offended by vulgarity then don't even bother.

  • He's a crazy writer

    Another good book by CB.

The book is amazing! I love Charles Bukowski's he is one of the best writer's to come along, and more people should read his works.

Bukowski is one of my favorites. The only negative is that once you've read one of his novels it's hard to switch. You wind up on a reading all of Bukowski quest.
