    A useful device for tracking your cycling performance

    I have owned several Garmin devices and this one is an improvement over the previous ones because of the ease of reading the screen, the connectivity options, added features such as displaying the percentage of time spend within each heart rate zone, and the auto upload of statistics after the ride. It takes some time to get everything set up using the buttons along the sides, but I prefer that to the touch screen because having to touch the screen makes for a messy and difficult to read screen while cycling.

    Information overload

    With the bundle (cadence sensor and heart rate monitor) this tells you a lot, but after a number of uses, it seems like too much information. Lots of bells and whistles, such as showing a tiny map of your ride, or showing the direction of travel, both of which are not very useful unless perhaps on a mountain bike traveling unknown terrain. The main negative impression I have, however, is that it is difficult to navigate the system, although with use, this should be less of an issue. Also, the instructions that come with the package are near worthless so don't even bother looking at them and go directly to Garmin's website user's manual. I thought I would really like the fact that it syncs to Strava segments but they pop up and capture the screen which requires a click to go back to the ...

    I love it. The only issue is that sometimes when I'm riding uphill, at very slow speeds it can't detect them it goes from 0 to 2.8 km/hr and then back to 0. Lots of options and functions I really like it, its perfect for people that ride enduro or xc. Side bottoms are perfect. Don't buy the ones with touchscreen, you will sweat and it will get wet and it will not work well (touch screen) It has so many customization screens that you can have almost all the info that you want the way that you whant and how you want. I would like to add the function that can control spotify (volume up, down, next song, last song and pause) and maybe the option to reject a call and read messages (with the bluetooth option with the phone).     Incredible amount of information

    I have only had this unit for four rides and am still learning how to use it. But it has an incredible amount of information available. The hard part is deciding which info to display. I also don't know if it will calculate average speeds based on time moving instead of what seems to be the default based on the over all ride time. My previous computers all based average speeds on time moving so comparisons are difficult. The heart rate monitor is very accurate and not as easily interfered with by over head power lines. In all a bit overwhelming but I think it will accommodate all my needs and then some.
