Product Information

NBA Live makes its third Xbox 360 appearance with a new, dynamic broadcast-style camera angle that displays the on-court action primarily from the sidelines. A number of "go-to" moves are available to distinguish star players from their less flashy teammates, while a post-game highlight reel shows off key plays from multiple perspectives. The controls have been streamlined in several key areas, thanks in part to a context-specific system that takes into account where the ball-handler is in on the court, his proximity to other players, and his distance to the basket.<br><br>While many moves are situational, players have direct control over dribbling with the new "quickstrike" ball handling system. Instead of tapping a button and waiting for an animation to complete, players can link together multiple moves without pausing. The right analog stick is used to perform signature-style moves and combinations, with players rocking the stick left and right to perform crossover dribbles and other techniques. The speed of each analog motion also influences the intensity of each move, giving players more flexibility during possessions.<br><br>In addition to the standard dynasty, season, and exhibition matches, players can compete in the FIBA World Championship as one of eight international teams or as any of the 30 NBA squads. Rebounding and ball physics have been tweaked from previous games, while the new "hot zones" feature incorporates actual NBA shooting data to make certain areas of the court more or less successful based on a player's real-life tendencies. Marv Albert and Steve Kerr reprise their commentary duties, with additional lines of dialogue dedicated to events such as free throw attempts, signature shots, and more.

    Much better than 07, but still a long way to go...

    Live 08 is a decent hoops game. The action has a nice, fast pace to it, and the game runs very smoothly. There are no hiccups or choppiness in the game like there was in Live 07. Special dribble and post moves are easy to pull off using the right stick, and the game is just good fun to play, especially against friends. As for the things that need to be fixed...there are FAR too many missed layups, and just in general goofy things that happen within the game, like a guy throwing the ball off the back of the backboard when trying to do a layup. Also, the defense needs alot of improvement as well, because it is nearly impossible to guard anyone in this game. There needs to be some defensive counters that can be used against some of those aforementioned right stick post and dribble ...

    NBA LIVE 08 -XBOX 360

    First off let me just say that I pretty much play just sports games for my xbox 360 and have played both the 2k series and live series. I would rate this game an 8 out of 10. It has everything you could want in a basketball game. The new feature go-to moves makes this game fresh and exciting and unlike any other basketball game to hit the market. To be able to control your favorite player like kobe bryant and pull off a signature fadeaway in the clutch is what makes this game as real as it gets for gamers. The graphics are easily the best of any basketball game to date. Although defensive movement seems to be a struggle at times, it is still a blast to play.Controls are pretty easy to master both on offense and defense. The defense as I mention needs to be upgraded, movement is a little ...

    The Total Package

    This game has been one of my all-time favorites. It is so good, in fact, I'm not sure I can say much against it! Some of the best features are: 1) graphics 2.) diverse player abilities 3.) tons of features 4.) big trades happen during the season 5) simple controlls, and so on. The only negative things might be that it is not challenging enough when you master it at the superstar level and that the salary cap is always so high that its almost too difficult to ever trade players. Overall, though, excellent game!

    Entertaining and Fun

    The graphics on this game are pretty good and the game play is tight. The controls are easy to use and u will learn fairly quickly on the moves of the players. Its overall entertaining,especially if you have others to play against you for a bit of a challenge. Overall a good game and worth the money.

    Amazingly realistic!

    PROS: Having played the NBA live series before, in many versions, on the Playstation 2, I can tell you the '08 xbox 360 version feels like an entirely different 'world'. The realism is just incredible, and the game play is compelling. It's challenging though the learning curve is easy. CONS: There are no legends (past great players) included this time -- no Larry Bird, or Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, and while roster updates can be downloaded, none of those available appear to fill that gap. So, if you're ok with playing strictly with the current NBA lineups, this game is unbeatable.
