A good read for all
The Nightingale tells the story of two sisters,separated by years and experience. Each embarks on their own journey for survival, with love and freedom in German occupied France during World War II. So much is not written about the women during the war. Kristin Hannah gives us a real insight into their lives and struggles during this terrible time in history.

Thought provoking and keeps your interest
I was hooked almost immediately. Kristin Hannah knows how to set the hook. Her characters were strong and well done. I felt I knew them personally. I understood what it would be like to live in a conquered nation and have to do the enemy's bidding. I felt cold and hungry and fearful along with them. A person can tell how much he/she enjoyed the book by how much of an impact the book has made on them. I am still thinking about it weeks after reading it. I felt that the book was believable. This is a great story about a brave, courageous woman, and her daring patriotism during WW2. I do find it disturbing in the fact, that it is eerily similar to what is happening in America today, Trump's rhetoric, lies and propaganda are very much alike Hitler's in the late 30's early 40's. In this respect it is hard for me to read at times. I would highly recommend this a required reading for High School students. Obviously, there are many who do not know history.
